WebSep 12, 2024 · AFAIK the EQ1 has a gear ratio of 96:1 and the EQ2 a gear ratio of 100:1. So a motor designed for a EQ2 will not perfectly work on an EQ1 even if you can solve the mounting bracket issue. I think the EQ2 will be too leight to handle the scope well. The EQ3 is much sturdier and will introduce less shivering in the eyepiece, especially when moving up the magnification. I think the slow motion controls on the EQ3 are much better too.

You best bet to get a EQ-2 mount not attached to a telescope is on Cloudy Nights or Astromart.
