One example: my office network has a very deep path for active projects, by the time you get to the LabVIEW folder the path is already 100 characters! Install the link shell extension, select your root labview project folder, then drop the junction at a shorter location.

If VI1 in folderA calls VI2 in folderB and you now go and rename folderB, VI1 won't find VI2 where it expects it the next time you open it.
